Attainment target:   Inroduction to the basics of organometallic chemistry and preparation for the "Inorganic and Organometallic Synthetic Laboratory Course" as well as for the "Advanced Organometallic Chemistry" lectures.

Detailed programme:   Basic principles and definitions. The main types of the metal-carbon bond. The main groups of metal organyls. Stability of organometallics. Compounds with s-donor ligands: structure and bonding, preparations and chemical properties. Compounds with p-donor ligands: structure and bonding, preparations and chemical properties. Organometallic catalysis.

Attainment target:   The course introduces students to the basic principles and applications of UV Photoelectron Spectroscopy. The knowledge provided can be helpful for graduate and PhD studies as well as for any other fields of professional activity in succession of university studies.

Detailed programme:   Photoionization and basic principles. Instrumentation. The photoelectron spectrum, factors influencing the band shape. The Koopmans' theorem, interpretation of spectra. Chemical applications of photoelectron spectroscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), method based on zero kinetic energy analysis (ZEKE), photoelectron-photoion coincidence (PEPICO).

Attainment target:   Prepatation of inorganic and organometallic compounds. Synthetic principles and methods.

Attainment target:    Electrochemical reactions: cathodic reduction. Study of molecular oxygen fixation. Synthesis of metal carbonyls. Reduction by using dissolving metal. Synthesis of organometallic compounds by using anionic alkyating agent. Transition metal "sandwich" compounds. Use of organometallic reagent in organic synthesis. Preparation and reactions of transition metal organyls. Transition metal catalysis. Chemical Vapour Deposition. Organometallic photochemistry. Reactions in MW field.
